One of our friends gave the kids a kit to make a paper mache dinosaur. There was peace in the house until the dinosaur had been constructed. But the kids could not agree on a color scheme.
S1 wanted to paint the dinosaur green and give it black eyes. "Like a real dinosaur," he explained.
S2 wanted to paint it pink and purple. "So it can be pretty," she countered.
They ended up compromising, and working on the paint job together. S1 got his way, vetoing the use of pink or purple, but S2 too got what she wanted: a colorful, mottled little thing.
